These two sister trees stand rooted in the icy ground, just touched by the first flurry of snow, whilst the shadowy forest beyond them turns white. Their bark is marked and scarred by the seasons of growth; they await the winter storms together. Silver birches hold a fascination for me and I have painted them many times, trying to capture their individual beauty: each trunk is as individual as a fingerprint. Acrylic on wood panel.
